The Boston Globe: Radio BDC

The Red Balloon was recently invited to a tour of The Boston Globe's Radio BDC. The Radio BDC celebrated their very first birthday on Thompson Island with the Island in the Sun event and The Red Balloon was there. The event became a tradition as the Radio BDC celebrated their second birthday with the 2nd Annual Island in the Sun. Unfortunately, this past summer 2015, there was no Island in the Sun. The Red Balloon sat down with Radio BDC's Adam XII and he expressed that he is hopeful that the Island in the Sun event will return in 2016 (you heard it here first.)

The Radio BDC is situated inside The Boston Globe and the newspaper is being printing right outside the door. The news is literally there printing page by page. It is interesting to see that much of the newspaper has gone digital but there are still parts that require people to meticulously place sheets onto plates and create the finished product.  The Boston Globe is definitely a sight to be seen, particularly for anyone interested in journalism.

As for the Radio BDC, the station was kind enough to allow The Red Balloon to choose a song. If you were listening this past Thursday you may have heard Green Day's "Time of Your Life" playing.

Until next time,
The Red Balloon

Tales from Thompson Island

One of the lesser known of the Boston Harbor islands, Thompson Island offers everything you could ask for in terms of sun, fun, and a wonderful view of the city.

Less than thirty minutes by boat and magically your transported to a place with so much to do. The Outward Bound program takes place on the island as well. The island offers a catering which is impeccable. Prior to my second trip to the island I had read an article calling the island a "hidden gem" which couldn't be more true. The article also made note that you may see a turkey on the island which I will confess I have never seen while there. However, sunset on the island is magical ~

Keep your eyes posted for the Year in Review 2015, coming your way soon!
