"For the first time I noticed - ...that my suffering was taking place in a grand setting. I saw my suffering for what it was, finite and insignificant, and I was still. My suffering did not fit anywhere, I realized. And I could accept this...Life is a peephole, a single tiny entry onto a vastness- how can I not dwell on this brief cramped view I have of things? (Ch. 60)
Just finished reading all 100 chapters of Life of Pi. I love how Pi wishes that his story will be told in 100 chapters. I then rushed ahead just to check to see if there were 100 chapters and alas there were. I had been wanting to read this book for such a long time. The funny part is I could have read it a few short years ago back when it was on my school's summer reading list. Of course, at the time, like most young pupils, I mistakenly thought the book had to do with math (ie. the life of the number 3.14 that goes on and on and on.) Of course, now I can look back and laugh at that notion but it is true that sometimes we too often judge a book by its title. I love how the infinite and endless nature of Pi is a running theme perhaps the most obvious of which is the fact that young Pi seems to go on and on and on despite all obstacles that are along his journey. That is one message that I will take with me upon life's journey.
I see now what an absolutely astounding book and unbelievable tale this book truly is. It's impossible to not relate on some level with the tale of a young boy trapped on a lifeboat. Just yesterday I said to myself, "Self, I feel like I'm trapped out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with a hyena, orang-utan, zebra, and a 450-pund Royal Bengal tiger." For crying out loud, If you haven't had that experience at least once in your life, than I tell you, you're not really truly living. I myself have the experience on pretty much a daily basis.

Book
I need to make a note that my library book is due today but it's not going to be returned in time...shhhh...I have finished it and another book as well yesterday
The 3 feet of snow may be the reason that I haven't been able to return it and then there's the fact that the library is closed today and tomorrow as well...

Storm's a brewin'
Makes me wish I had some ice cream...
Hope that the power doesn't go out.
Just finished reading Gone Girl on this "snow day" and I have to say that I was disappointed...that book did not go the way I thought it would. When you have expectations it seems like there's a lot of room for a pretty big letdown which was the case with that book...time for lunch...maybe I'll finish another book by tomorrow...later

I can't recall the last time I said this out loud
But I need a nap.
Watched Identity Thief yesterday and let's just say the film is not very well written, which is too bad since I can't really recall the last good comedy film I watched.
I've almost finished reading Gone Girl. I have to say I could not have predicted the twists that have taken place. I have 100 pages to go so we'll have to see where this book leads...till then maybe I will take that nap :)

Where to begin
Finished reading an amazing book...yes that's right 2013 has begun with my actually finishing a book I started. If you recall, 2012 ended with about 300 books that I had started but never started. To be fair about 252 of those were because I watched the movie version and decided in the end that that would suffice.
So back to the book I finished... I loved the book so much that I bought it as a gift for my aunt. It's called the 100 year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared. It has it all, suspense, murder, mystery, presidents, prime ministers, drugs, dogs, international travel between almost all of the continents on earth, and there's also an elephant. I hope to reenact the book in it's entirety. It's being made into a movie as I type this so maybe I'll have to turn it into a one woman show, with all the elements...except maybe not the elephant...I'll have to think about that. Till next time
