I've watched quite a few films this summer. This one was different. This one was a football film that didn't feel at all like a football film. Let's face it: aren't those the best football films? I can't help but think back to Any Given Sunday. Good grief that's a football film at its worst. What can really be remembered from that film? When The Game Stands Tall is a film not to be forgotten.
When The Game Stands Tall tells the true story of a high school team that went undefeated for 151 games. A truly moving take on more than just a game. The film is really about the coach's ability to create a team that was really a family. A team that wasn't focused on winning but on playing the very best game that they could. The film is superb in its script and in the actor's ability to bring you right into the story. I have to say that When The Game Stands Tall is definitely one of the best films I've seen in some time.
Even after the movie is over, make sure to watch the old clips from the actual coach. Those film reels are the lasting legacy that remains and that made that team a remarkable group. The film is set to be released August 22nd.
