As has become a yearly tradition in Boston, new year's eve features a series of Ice Sculptures throughout the city as part of the First Night celebration. Below enjoy a sampling of a few favorites.
Located on the waterfront, behind the Intercontinental Hotel, this ice sculpture was beautifully placed in front of the hotel's outdoor tree to add to the beauty of the sculpture.
Current "lying" in front of Copley Square's Boston Public Library, the regal lion can still be seen.
Walk across the street from the lion sculpture and you'll be able to catch this triumphant "2016" sculpture.
Also located at Copley Square is this above piece featuring quite a few arctic animals.
The Minions can be found at Faneuil Hall.
Last but not least, The Mermaid promises that if you step behind, you are transformed for a moment. The interactive ice sculptures have become more prominent within the last few years. This one is at Battery Wharf and the Coast Guard base can be seen in the background.
~Stay tuned for the Birthday Blog as The Red Balloon will be celebrating very soon and you are invited to join the party!

Sights and Sounds in the City: Holiday Edition
Sights and Sounds: get your eyes and ears prepared for the latest edition of what has become a favorite.
Let's that forget that the upcoming ice sculptures will soon be featured as part of First Night. If you find yourself in Boston be sure to check them out.
BSA Space Gingerbread Exhibition:
This annual competition is quite fierce.
Located on Congress Street the BSA space provides ample room to display the
Gingerbread works of art. A photo from last year which I call, "Edible
Eastie" ~
Let's that forget that the upcoming ice sculptures will soon be featured as part of First Night. If you find yourself in Boston be sure to check them out.
It wouldn't be the Holiday Edition without a photo of good ol'
Saint Nick himself. In this photo we don't know if he'll ever get to
town...considering he's riding the MBTA!
Last but not least....
Let's not forget this photo from winter in
the city last year:
Just in case your forgot what Winter looks like here in Beantown: that image should be enough to open the floodgate of memories : )
